Used Land Rover Discovery North Miami Beach FL

While the most popular and prominent model from the Land Rover lineup is without a doubt the Range Rover, it’s not the only model on the lineup. First introduced all the way back in 1989, the Land Rover Discovery has been the brand’s resident midsize luxury SUV for decades. We occasionally see used versions of the Disco pass through our inventory here in North Miami Beach FL, so we thought we’d take a look at the model’s history and what types of models you might see available in our inventory from time to time.

The first generation of the Land Rover Discovery was split into two halves, the Discovery Series 1 from 1989 to 1998 and the Series 2 from ’98 to 2004. The second generation was likewise split, with the Discovery 3 or LR3 lasting from ’04 to ’09, followed then by the LR4 from ’09 to 2016. Finally, the third and current generation kicked off in 2017 and looks to continue going strong.

There have been several special versions and variants throughout the years. For example, the SC Group offers two variant models designed for emergency services and utility sectors. Land Rover has also built armored versions of the Discovery and models reconfigured for police and similar uses.

The main customer-facing special edition came in 2019, for the nameplate’s 30th anniversary. The special edition was, unfortunately, only available to customers in the United Kingdom, and only 400 units were built with unique design cues and features.
