It seems like Mercedes-Benz has been teasing the idea of branching out into other segments for years, namely the pickup truck segment. But the time is here, as the 2018 Mercedes-Benz X-Class recently made its global debut. At this point, we’ve only seen the European-spec model, and it’s unclear of if or when the new luxury pickup truck will be making its way to North America – but we can hope, because this truck is incredible.

Specs & Features

As we stated, the model that has been unveiled is a European model, so its specifications could differ if and when it arrives here in North America. But we thought we’d give you a taste of what it might offers by diving into what has been announced about the Euro-spec pickup. We already know that this is the first pickup truck to be offered from a premium, luxury brand. But all that really tells us is that it’s going to look pretty and offer plenty of great features. It needs to the let the specifications speak for it, which we think it does.

The X-Class is able to haul up 2,200 lbs. in its truck bed alone, not including any towing capacity. As for towing capacity, it can carry an additional 7,000 lbs. behind it. That means it could town a horse trailer with 3 beasts inside, or even a long yacht. But what about its more particular engine specs?

The X-Class will be powered by one of two 2.3L 4-cylinder engines, the first a turbocharged engine capable of doling out 161 horsepower and the second a biturbo capable of 188 horses. The estimated combined fuel economy rating for both engines is set at roughly 31 mpg.

In other words, Mercedes-Benz’ luxury pickup truck is shaping up to be an incredible machine, and we can’t wait to find out more about it. Be sure to keep checking back here at the Prestige Imports website for updates as they become available.
