Take heart, South Florida: although Hurricane Matthew is preparing to unload on the Miami area, it will pass. And when it does, we’ll have something else to prepare for: Halloween. Yes, it’s time to dust off that pirate or pixie costume and plan a party or, if you’re like us, head to a haunted house. Miami has some of the best haunted houses in the nation, but which are the best of the bunch? We at Prestige Imports have looked over all of the offerings, and we’ve identified our favorites.
Best Haunted Houses in South Florida
Enigma Haunt | Boca Raton
South Florida residents innately know the history that surrounds them, and this generally helps to inform their personalities. Yet, this knowledge can also have its drawbacks, especially when we get into the spooky denseness of the Everglades or the foggy waters of Lake Okeechobee. The Enigma Haunt takes advantage of this familiarity, and then turns it squarely on its head. With three separate settings to enjoy, a fearful visit is a certainty.
House of Horror Haunted Carnival | Doral
What is it that makes a carnival such a ridiculously scary place to be? It may have something to do with clowns, it may be the creepy music, it may be the thought of getting into a hall of mirrors from which you can’t emerge. Whatever it might be, it’s certainly on display at the House of Horror Haunted Carnival, which features four separate settings.
Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds | West Palm Beach
For the rest of the year, the South Florida Fair sells itself as the place “Where the Fun Always Shines.” During Halloween, however, the shine is replaced with screams. (See what we did there?) Offering four haunted houses, a Monster Bash costume party, sideshows and rides, this one offers fun for the whole family, which isn’t something that every haunted house can say for itself.
The Haunted Gross House | Naples
Set at the welcoming confines of the Collier County Fairgrounds, the Haunted Gross House welcomes an assortment of famous horror movie villains to its 14,000-square-foot haunt. Twelve rooms of terror are home to Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Pennywise and more, and guests may also enjoy carnival rides and games as well.
As you can see, there are no shortage of terrific places to enjoy Halloween in the Miami area. We trust that these will be here waiting for you when you return to the area following the hurricane, and that you’ll come see us at Prestige Imports as well.
